The Makovecz Student Scholarship Programme (in other words, the “Hungarian Erasmus”) is a framework programme for  cooperation in the Carpathian Basin announced by the Ministry of Human Resources in Budapest.

Goals of the Scholarship Program:

– to promote the supply of intellectuals to Hungarian diaspora by broadening student mobility between Hungarian and other higher education institutions beyond the border in the Hungarian language,

– supporting the processes of quality development and internationalization of Hungarian higher education in Hungary and in Hungarian higher education beyond the border.

Opportunities:

The Program provides support in each academic year to Hungarian diaspora studying at higher education institutions operating courses in Hungarian language beyond the designated border, as well as to students from the mother country interested in studying abroad.

The selection of the outgoing and incoming students and the criteria thereof are agreed by the cooperating institutions at their own discretion. In doing so, the selection of the outgoing and incoming students is carried out by their own institution (the home institution) taking into account the specified selection criteria (e.g. academic and/or scientific activity and/or social aspects and/or other activities, etc.).
