ACCOMODATION

Students of the J. Selye University have two Halls of residence at disposal: Sirály and Danubius.

Sirály is at the edge of the town, next to the building of the Faculty of Education. Danubius is in the heart of the town, close to the Faculty of Economics and Informatics and to the Conference Centre.

Both buildings contain rooms with two, three and four beds. Furthermore students may use kitchens, study rooms, fitness centre, social rooms and computer classrooms. Internet connections are provided in both Halls of Residence.

For those who want to stay for a shorter period of time than one semester, a personal discussion is required with the University about their dormitory fee.

Or you can rent a flat in the town, the prices are around 450 eur/month.

INTERNET

Internet access within UJS for its students and staff (using access data given along with the UJS electronic card) is available:

• at PC stands in UJS corridors

• free Wi-fi in the main buildings of UJS

• in the UJS dormitory rooms: access is delivered by wired and wireless connection

• in the Dormitory UJS: Sirály and Danubius: free wifi in the lobby.

UJS creates a private university account (e-mail address) for each duly enrolled student. The students are asked to use this university account in communication within UJS. The Wi-fi in all of the buildings requires login with this private university account.

FOOD

In the Conference Center there is a canteen. Students can get food or lunch for student-friendly prices. One lunch costs 2 EUR with student card ISIC.

Apart from the canteen, the University operates cafeterias as well.

For those, who want to eat outside, the town of Komárno offers many restaurants. Costs may vary from place to place, but usually it’s around 3,40 EUR.

SPORT AND LEISURE ACTIVITIES

Department of Physical Education and Sport provides the teaching of physical education for all the three faculties of UJS.

Our University is well equipped, so students can play team sports, such as football, basketball or volleyball.

Some particular programs are arranged regularly, where students can try some special activities, like Zumba or Kangoo jumps.

When you want to train alone, you should definitely choose our University’s gym. You can find some good quality fitness equipment there.

If you like water, Komárno offers some local opportunities as well. There is an indoor swimming pool and a thermal bath as well. Pools with thermal water, drinking water and mixed water can be found.

STUDENT SELF-GOVERNMENT- HÖK

The Student Self-Government of the J. Selye University (SJE HÖK) is an efficient advocacy and protection organisation. It consists of the students of the University and represents their interests. It is also involved in the organization of the students’ academic, cultural and social life. HÖK is represented in the University and in the faculty senate as well. The Student Self-Government organizes the Summer Camp for the first-year students in September, the Faculty Days in October and November. This event presents faculty characteristics across a variety of cultural programs. Student Self-Government organizes the Komárno University Days as well. This event takes place for a week, Monday and Tuesday are presentation days, where well-known performers are invited.

The University supports sports, artistic and cultural activities of students. Many of the activities are organized by the University itself. Some are carried out under the auspices of the academic ensembles at the University, yet others involve civil unions of University students. Spontaneous and often individual activities of various interest groups are also very popular. The Student Self-Government also organizes various sports events. If students have any questions, queries or problems (whether academic or otherwise – regarding the University), they may ask for help from the Student Self-Government at any time.

University Library

The University Library ensures the professional literature necessary for educational, research and scientific activities carried out by the University, and provides library information services through an information system, available collections, literary information sources, and accommodating staff. The University Library is located in the Conference Centre of the J. Selye University.

KaTa – Career Advisory Center

The Career Advisory Centre of the J. Selye University organizes educational events and seminars, provides consultancy, carries out publication activities, creates web pages, organizes lectures, and ensures necessary expert advisory services through which it helps both students and graduates of the J. Selye University succeed in the labour market.
